OUR STORY

Humble Beginnings

Kuru Contracting Limited was established in 1997 by father and son duo Jack and Ricky Kuru.

In 2012, Ricky and his wife, Leanne, purchased the business and have continued to build on that legacy, growing Kuru into a diversified, whānau-owned company that operates across multiple industries throughout Tairāwhiti and beyond.

Our roots are firmly planted in forestry. From almost 30 years of Roadline logging, we have grown to provide a full range of mechanised forestry harvesting services, including Roadline, Harvestline, Tower Yarder and Swing Yarder operations.

Built to Meet the Need

As the needs of our clients, communities and region have evolved, so too has Kuru.

Today, our whānau of businesses delivers services across forestry, civil construction, logistics, quarrying, engineering, heavy haulage, fuel and retail.

While we've grown over the years, our commitment remains the same: investing in our people, building strong relationships and creating opportunities for future generations.

Generations of Kuru

For us, success has never been measured solely by the work we do. It's measured by the opportunities we create for our people, our whānau and our communities.

Over the years, Kuru has provided careers for generations of local families. Many of our team members have watched their sons, daughters, nieces, nephews and mokopuna grow up around the industries that help drive our region forward. Today, we're seeing the next generation explore their own pathways into forestry, construction, transport, engineering and quarrying.
